Staff Reporter, USA: Preparations have been made to celebrate Virtual International Mother Language Day at the Bangladesh Consulate in New York. Virtual International Mother Language Day 2021 will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 12 noon to 1 pm in a joint venture between Bangladesh Consulate General and Queens Public Library. A press release issued by the Bangladesh Consulate in New York said that this international virtual event has been organized to bring together the language and culture of different countries of the world including Bengal in an effort to pay homage to the language martyrs and introduce the spirit of Amar Ekushey to the mainstream of New York.
Bangladesh Consulate General, New York and Queens Public Library have been jointly celebrating this day every year since 2019 with the participation of expatriate / community members of different languages ​​and cultures and some elected representatives of Queens, which has already aroused widespread response in Queens. Due to the global outbreak of the corona virus, it has been decided to celebrate the day virtually this year.

Lew, Bangladeshi-American Georgia State Senator Sheikh Rahman, Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz, Bangladesh Ambassador of United States M Shahidul Islam, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to United Nations and Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Ambassador / Consul General of 10 countries and other dignitaries will speak on the occasion.
There will also be cultural performances in Bengali and other foreign languages ​​to honor all the languages ​​of the world.
