Staff Reporter: Manchester Public Library in Connecticut, USA has organized Amor Ekushey and International Mother Language Day celebrations for the second time. The virtual event will be held at the Manchester Public Library on Sunday 21 February from 2pm to 4pm. Organizers are urged to stay connected to the Amar Ekushey Virtual event at Connecticut Expatriates.
Sanjida Nira, a Bangladeshi activist working at Manchester Adult and Continuing Education, said Connecticut’s writers, poets, artists and culture lovers will highlight the significance of Bangladesh’s Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day in a variety of ways.
Held in collaboration with Manchester Adult and Continuing Education, Manchester Public Library, School Readiness Council and expatriate Bangladeshis in Manchester, the event will feature the impact of Bengali language and culture on the background of Amar Ekushey and the significance of International Mother Language Day. Local poets, writers, literary and cultural activists will take part in the discussion. There will be performances of children and teenagers and songs of adults with patriotism and mother tongue.
