Staff Reporter: Like every year, this time in the state of Connecticut in the United States, the pilgrimage of Saint Anthony, the most revered personality to the Christian community, has been held. The event was held at the residence of Manchester expatriate Christians Meera and Sudhir Palma last Friday (June 12) evening after nine days of Novena prayers.
Since 2006, the pilgrimage of Saint Anthony has been held in public on the personal initiative of Christians Meera and Sudhir Palma and with the cooperation of all Christians living in Connecticut. During the ceremony, prayers were offered at the feet of Almighty God under the mediation of Saint Anthony. Through religious fervor, all the devotees present took part in the Christmas prayer conducted by Bishop Lawrence Subrata Hawladar CSC of Barisal Diocese. The money collected during the Christmas will be spent on the service of humanity in Bangladesh, the organizers said. Christians believe that praying through the intercession of Saint Anthony fulfills desires and heals the sick.
According to the Christian community, in the life of the great saint Antony, he used the virtues given by God the Father for the welfare of mankind. He was devoted to the work of God from the age of 18 and worked to expand the kingdom of God until his death. For nearly a century, he has strengthened the faith of those who did not believe in God, in his only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Mother Mary. He used his tongue to preach Christianity. People used to come to him from far and wide to listen to his captivating words.
The great saint Anthony did many wonderful things like the Lord Jesus Christ that made him great in his lifetime. We have come to know many incidents of his life by reading various pamphlets and even today the devotees believe that if any item is lost, it can be found by praying to Saint Antony.
