Staff Reporter: Election Commissioners of the Chittagong Association greeted of flower to Shahana Hanif, a Bangladeshi woman who was elected to the Democratic Party’s primary election from Brooklyn District-39, New York. Visited her Brooklyn home on Tuesday (July 6) evening, local time, and greeted her warmly. Shahana Hanif’s father is Mohammad Hanif, former president of Chittagong Samiti and former chairman of the board of trustees.
Chief Election Commissioner of Chittagong Association Md. Hasan Chowdhury, Election Commissioner Abu Taleb Chowdhury Chandu, Election Commissioner Syed Morshed Rezvi Chowdhury and Election Commissioner Master Nasir Uddin were present on the occasion.
Note that Shahana Hanif was elected as the Brooklyn District-39 Council Women with 57% of the final vote in the Democratic Party’s primary election. Shahana Hanif was the first Bengali Muslim woman to be elected as a Council Women in New York. She is a child of Chittagong and daughter of Mohammad Hanif, former president of Chittagong Samiti.
