Staff Reporter : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coming to New York on September 19 to attend the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations. She is scheduled to land at John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport at 11 a.m. that day. A source in the United States Awami League and the United Nations Bangladesh Mission said that her visit could change as the situation in the United States, including New York, deteriorates.
According to the source, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to attend the 76th Hybrid General Assembly of the United Nations after the heads of state and government of different countries decided to attend the General Assembly. If the epidemic situation is not normal, it may change.
It is yet to be decided when and what time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the United Nations. However, it is expected that she will address the 76th Hybrid General Assembly on September 24 or 25.
A source in the United States Awami League said she would not take part in any public meetting or civic receptions this time as in other years. However, the Prime Minister will deliver a valuable address to the party leaders and workers from Hotel Suite on September 24 via video conference in ‘Virtual Presence’.
Meanwhile, the United States Awami League and its allies have decided to hold a peace rally in front of the United Nations building on the day of the Prime Minister’s arrival in the United States on September 19 to greet at the JFK airport and on the day of her speech at the United Nations.
