Staff Reporter: The 16-point manifesto of the Tamim-Mamun Parishad has been announced in the biennial election of the Bangladeshi American Association of Connecticut (BAAC) to be held on September 12 in the United States. In this election, there will be a voting battle between two strong panels Tamim-Mamun and Nurul-Humayun Parishad. On August 27, Tamim-Mamun announced the manifesto from the election parishad. The manifesto is as follows:
1. Our main goal is to make this organization of the life of the people of Connecticut dynamic and vibrant in the democratic process by uniting the divided ‘BAAC’ and bringing the stagnation of ‘BAAC’ under one flag.
2. Establishing sustainable relationships with other organizations in the state of Connecticut.
3. By adopting various programs that are suitable for generations and by associating them with ‘BAAC’, two generations
Bringing the distance down to the molecular level.
4. To re-establish the democratic trend in this organization which is the main organization of Bangladeshis in the state.
5. To take appropriate effective steps to establish a permanent address for the much awaited and promised ‘BAAC’.
6. To bring a talented new face of the community and the next generation to the fore by implementing that no member of the executive committee gets a seat in any committee for more than two consecutive terms.
7. If our council is elected, to form a board of trustees acceptable to all through amending the constitution.
8. To rise above the stereotypes and to make all out efforts to formulate and implement new programs.
9. In this age of globalization, BAAC has been established as a beacon by bringing the organization into the hands of all by revolutionizing technology and facilitating overall communication with all in the community.
10. Introducing the rich culture of Bangladesh to the local people.
11. To make women society more involved in the core activities of ‘BAAC’.
12. To re-open the ‘BAAC’ Bangla School and start its activities in other cities for the benefit of all of our members.
13. To co-operate in providing ESL, healthcare and other facilities to help new immigrants.
14. Arranging low cost tax files every year.
15. To bridge the gap between our traditional heritage and rich culture with the new generation.
16. Moreover, if this council is elected, it will always strive to ensure various vocational education, sports, healthy cultural practices and entertainment.
