Staff Reporter: Dr. Tamim Ahmed, who is running for president of the Tamim-Mamun Parishad in the biennial election of the Bangladeshi American Association of Connecticut (BAAC), one of the leading Bangladeshi organizations in the US state of Connecticut, said Baac should not be allowed to be subordinated. The executive committee must be transparent and accountable to its members for all its work. His first task will be to make Baac public by reorganizing it in a new way.

Voting will be held on September 12 at 4 polling stations for expatriates in 118 Connecticut cities. Two full panels are competing in this election. Researcher Tamim Ahmed is contesting for the post of president of Tamim-Mamun Parishad.
He has been associated with Baac since its inception in 2005. Initially, he was the founding president of Baac. He was also nominated to lead Baac in 2007-2011. He was forced to resign after disagreements with some professionals at the time. Later, many people tried to bring him back to his dream. But for a long time he worked from behind but did not return to any position with pride. He never lost his connection with Baac. He loves Baac with all his heart. Therefore, at the request of the concerned persons and expatriates, after almost a decade, he is again contesting for the post of President.

In an interview to Bangla Press, he said that some people are trying to take advantage of the leadership of Baac, which he has created. It can never be allowed to happen. Therefore, at the request of everyone, he has to contest for the post of president again, he said. If elected president this time, he wants to change the whole structure of Baac. That is why this time the slogan of his electoral parishad is ‘unity for change’. However, some have commented that the word ‘want’ has been dropped at the end of the slogan or ‘want change for unity’ could have been a better slogan. Researcher Tamim Ahmed’s country home is in Dinajpur. He has been an immigrant to the United States for almost 38 years and has lived in Connecticut for 31 years. He also serves as vice president of health economics at companies such as Cigna and Aetna, one of the leading health insurance companies in the United States. Tamim Ahmed was also the executive director of Obama Care in Connecticut. He is currently a partner in a healthcare company based in San Jose, California. He has been working as a valuable consultant for several other companies in the healthcare world.

While studying at Mirzapur Cadet College, Tamim devoted himself to patriotism, discipline and social service. He started his studies in the Department of Economics at Dhaka University, securing eighth and fourth place in the merit list in SSC and HSC from Dhaka Board.
He immigrated to the United States after receiving a scholarship to study at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. As usual, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with the signature of achievement. He then earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Hartford University in Connecticut.

He is quite optimistic about the victory of his current parishad. This time they have arranged the panel by saving candidates from different areas and organizations. He thinks that everyone on the panel is suitable for their respective positions. So he called on Connecticut expatriates to vote for him and his full panel on September 12.
