Staff Reporter: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is in New York to attend the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, is on leave in Virginia after a seven-day busy schedule. After landing a Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP chartered flight at Dulles International Airport in Washington DC at 10:03 a.m. local Saturday, She went straight to his son’s home in Virginia.

A source in the Awami League in Metro Washington DC said that the Prime Minister did not meet the leaders and activists waiting at the airport. Even on Sunday (September 26), local Awami League leaders and activists gathered in front of Sajib Wazed Joy’s house in Virginia to meet the Prime Minister, but she did not meet anyone.
A VVIP chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines with the Prime Minister and her entourage departed from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport for Washington DC at 9.15 am local time. The plane landed at Dulles International Airport in Washington DC at 10:03 a.m. local time.

Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived in New York on September 19 after a two-day break in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. On the morning of 17 September, the Prime Minister and her entourage left Dhaka for New York on a Biman flight.
During her stay in New York, Sheikh Hasina addressed the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on 24 September. She followed in the footsteps of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and delivered a speech in Bengal.
During her stay in New York from 19 to 24 September, the Prime Minister attended a number of high-level and closed-door meetings and held bilateral meetings with heads of various governments, states and organizations.

The Prime Minister planted a sapling in the UN Garden on the North Lawn of the UN Headquarters in his honor on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 20 September. The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Dhaka on October 1.
