Staff Reporter: A Bangladeshi food supplier named Abu Chala Mia was stabbed to death in Manhattan, New York, USA. The incident took place around 1am local time on Saturday 16 (October) outside Sarah de Roosevelt Park in Hester St. near Christy St. outside of Lower East Side Park in Manhattan. Chala Mia (51) used to deliver food by e-bike under an organization called Grubhub. The mugger then punched him in the face and then stabbed him in the abdomen before fleeing. Police sent injured to Bellevue Hospital, where on-duty doctor declared his dead.
Police said Chala Mia was stabbed in the face and stabbed in the abdomen.
Witnesses told police that Chala Mia was riding an e-bike on the road when the mugger stopped him and tried to snatch her wheel. At one point the assailant pulled out a knife and hit him.
An insulated Grubhub delivery bag was attached to the back of Salah Mia’s bike, but it was not immediately known if he was delivering at the time of the attack. The assailant fled the area with his bike. No arrests have been made yet, police said.
As of October 10, 2021, there had been seven robberies, according to New York Police. Which is two more than last year. So far in 2021, there have been 15 attacks on the park, according to police. Investigated more than 12 incidents in 2020.
