Staff Reporter: Leaders and activists of US BNP and its affiliates have staged a series of hunger strikes and demonstrations in front of the US State Department and the White House demanding the release of BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia and her treatment abroad. Local time on Wednesday (December 1) at noon, BNP leaders and activists from different states gathered in front of the State Department and joined protest rally.

Speakers at the rally said that in order to save the life of Begum Khaleda Zia, she needed to be sent abroad on an urgent basis for proper treatment. We urge the United States to immediately release Begum Khaleda Zia and arrange for her advanced treatment abroad. Begum Khaleda Zia is in critical condition at the Evercare Hospital in the capital. She is now at the crossroads of life and death due to various complex diseases.

The speakers further said that Awami Fascism of Bangladesh has now manifested itself in the world in a terrible form of unparalleled cruelty. This undisputed leader of the salvation of democracy has remained steadfast in her goal even in the face of hundreds of tortures. He could not be shaken at all. His contribution to improving the living standards of the people including democracy, independence of judiciary, justice, freedom of media is unforgettable. Empowering women, especially girls, has played a historic role in the development of the society by introducing unpaid education and stipends. Begum Zia did not allow the country to face food crisis or famine while dealing with natural and political disasters. Rather under his able leadership the country was self-sufficient in food and free from all uncertainties.

Speakers said that the leader of the largest party in the country is undergoing treatment as fascism has taken an extreme form today. Fascists do not borrow sympathy, sympathy. They are engaged in ruthless repression to wipe out all criticism and opposition.
