Staff Reporter: Leaders of the New England (Boston) BNP affiliate have staged a protest at the world-famous Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, demanding release of BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia and her treatment abroad. New England (Boston) BNP leaders at a rally on Saturday (December 4) afternoon, local time, demanded release of Begum Khaleda Zia and urgent need to send her abroad for medical treatment to save her life.
Speakers at the rally, chaired by New England (Boston) BNP President Syed Badre Alam Saiful and conducted by General Secretary Ali Haider Mansur,Speakers said that not only the BNP, but all people at home and abroad were agitating for his treatment abroad. Three-time Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been in hospital for a long time. Despite demands from various quarters, the government is not taking any initiative for his treatment.
President Syed Badre Alam Saiful said it was time to liberate the country from this tyrannical government elected without a vote. Khaleda Zia has fought all her life for the liberation of democracy in this country, for the human rights of this country, to speak for the people of this country. But today, sadly, no action is being taken regarding his treatment.
General Secretary Ali Haider Mansur said that today the people of Bangladesh are waking up to the question of Khaleda Zia’s treatment. Quickly release Khaleda Zia and arrange for her treatment abroad.
Kazi Nuruzzaman, the founding president and advisor of the New England (Boston) BNP, said that Awami Fascism in Bangladesh has now emerged in the world in a terrible form of unparalleled cruelty. This undisputed leader of the salvation of democracy has remained steadfast in her goal even in the face of hundreds of tortures. She could not be shaken at all. Her contribution to improving the living standards of the people including democracy, independence of judiciary, justice, freedom of media is unforgettable.
Today, the leader of the largest party in the country is undergoing treatment as fascism has taken an extreme form. Fascists do not borrow sympathy, sympathy. They are engaged in ruthless repression to wipe out all criticism and opposition.
Sohrab H Khan, the founding general secretary and senior vice-president of the New England (Boston) BNP, said, “We urge the United States to release Begum Khaleda Zia and immediately provide her with advanced treatment abroad. The life of the country’s leader is in great danger. There is nothing left to treat in the country. In order to save the life of Begum Khaleda Zia, there is an urgent need for advanced medical treatment abroad.
Organizing Secretary Mohammad Razzak Hossain said, “It is surprising and shameful to think that the three-time Prime Minister has to go abroad for his medical treatment. The party has to hold a rally. There can be no release of Begum Khaleda Zia and advanced treatment abroad.
