Staff Reporter: This ancient proverbial phrase, “If the chest bursts, the mouth does not burst” is completely inappropriate in the present age. Now women’s ‘mouth does, not burst anyone’s chest’. One hundred and five years of Women’s Day has seen a change in the condition of women. Before that many women could not give an opinion about his marriage. Could not claim custody of the child. Many do not get full independence from family. Although women worked alongside men in the workplace, they could not spend their income independently. But now the situation is slowly changing. At present in Bangladesh the presence of women in various government and non-government organizations is more but still much less than that of men. While March 8 is being observed around the world as Women’s Day, on the other hand, some women may be victims of violence or torture. To overcome this, steps have been taken in Bangladesh for decades, both publicly and privately.
However, even though the government has taken steps, it is not being implemented. Again those who are taking steps privately are becoming project based. Above all, everyone should work together to raise awareness. Besides, a woman has to come forward to realize the rights of women. In addition, the family has a number of roles. Women also have some role of their own. Women will also have some responsibilities of their own. Being arbitrary does not mean treating men badly. Above all, men and women need to be tolerant of each other.
The history of the struggle for the rights of women workers is behind the celebration of Women’s Day. Women’s Day started on March 8, 1857. The women workers of a needle factory in New York, USA, demanded reduction of daily labor from 12 hours to 8 hours, fair wages and ensuring a healthy and healthy work environment. Numerous women were arrested for protesting on that day. Many were tortured in prison. Three years later, on the same day in 1860, the Nari Sramik Union was formed.

In 1908, about one and a half thousand women workers of garment and textile factories started a movement demanding the same. Finally he realized the right to work 8 hours a day.

On this day in 1910, at the International Socialist Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark, German leader Clara Jetkin declared March 8 as International Women’s Day. Since then, the day has been celebrated all over the world as International Women’s Day.
The United Nations declared March 8, 1975, International Women’s Day, as International Women’s Day. Two years later, in 1977, the United Nations officially recognized the day as International Women’s Day. Since then, the day has been celebrated around the world with a pledge to reaffirm women’s suffrage. Bangladesh also observes the day with due dignity every year.
