Noman Ibne Sabit: US Awami League and its affiliates have staged a protest rally in New York against the BNP’s threat to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. US Awami League organized the program.
Leaders and activists of allied organizations including Awami League, Juba League, Swechchhasebak League and Mahila Awami League took part in the protest rally held at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, New York on Saturday evening (June 4) local time.
Later, the protest rally was presided over by President of the US Awami League Dr. Siddiqur Rahman and conducted by Acting General Secretary Abdus Samad Azad.
Heroic freedom fighters Golam Meraj, Mukit Chowdhury, Vice President Samsuddin Azad, Acting General Secretary Abdus Samad Azad, Organizing Secretary Abdul Hasib Mamun, Publicity Secretary Haji Inam, Expatriate Affairs Secretary Solaiman Ali, Deputy Office Secretary Abdul Malek, AL leader Khorshed Khandaker, Sweekriti Barua, Mujibur Rahman, Shibbir Ahmed, Member Shahnara Rahman, Zahirul Islam, Former VP and Awami League Leader Md. Sakhawat Biswas, Rafiqul Islam, Shramik League Leader Azizul Haque Khokon, Juba League Convener Tareq Haider, Member Secretary Bahar Khandaker Sabuj, Juba League leaders Sebul Mia, Volunteer League leader Golam Kibria, Md. Saiful Alam, Z A Joy, Jahangir Hossain and others and Awami League spoke at the protest rally.

Dr. Siddiqur Rahman strongly condemned the BNP’s threat to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and said that Bangabandhu was killed by his own family in ’75. BNP and Chhatra Dal threatened the incident of ’75. Razakars, anti-nationals, conspirators must be stopped. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and bringing them under the law. “We are always ready to deal with any situation,” he added.
Other speakers at the rally said, “We strongly condemn and protest against the indecent remarks made by the BNP Chhatra Dal terrorists about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.” We want exemplary punishment for Chhatra Dal terrorists for making this statement about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The terrorists must apologize to the countrymen and the Prime Minister.
