Editor’s Council in New York angry over embassies negligence

Noman Ibne Sabit: The New York Editors’ Council has expressed its displeasure over the avoidance of editors of various New York newspapers at a function held in Washington DC to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and the United States. They also criticized the Washington embassy’s neglect of the largest Bangladeshi community in New York. The speakers mentioned that huge amount of remittances go to Bangladesh from Greater New York.

The meeting of the Editors’ Council, an association of editors of the nine oldest Bengali newspapers published from New York, was held at the Bangladesh Plaza Conference Room in Jackson Heights on Monday evening, June 6. In the meeting held in a very friendly atmosphere, the editors discussed various aspects and situation of publishing Bengali newspapers from New York. At the meeting, they wished success to the Bangladeshi candidates contesting the primary elections to be held on June 28.
The editors expressed satisfaction over the development of Bengali newspapers in New York and the efforts of each newspaper to make further progress in its respective fields. They said that after two long years of turmoil in Pandamic, the business community and the social and cultural arena of the community have been revived. Newspapers have become lively with various news and advertisements.
The editors expressed satisfaction with the opening of new businesses in New York, saying that economic development is the key to success for any community. They look at the emphasis on publishing newspapers with a professional attitude.
After all, the editors wish success to the candidates of Bangladeshi descent who are contesting the June 28 primary election from different districts of New York City.
