Noman Ibne Sabit:The Jackson Heights Bangladeshi Business Association (JBBA) has taken initiative to build a road named ‘Bangladesh’ in Jackson Heights, a Bangladeshi town in New York, USA. Organization officials have already sent proposals to New York City officials. Officials said they were also trying to get the proposal passed.
At a recent press conference, JBBA officials said they had spoken to 115 per cent of officials in Jackson Heights, urging them to do business safely, to stop crime, and to make buyers feel safe. As part of this, JBBA has organized a Pathomela on July 17 from 10 am to 9 pm. The Pathomela will be held from 74th Street to 77th Street, 37 Road, Jackson Heights. There will be hundreds of stalls in the fair. At the press conference, JBBA informed the journalists about the information of the fair and the various activities taken. The event was attended by JBBA leaders and editors and journalists from various media outlets in New York.
JBBA General Secretary Fahad Solaiman gave a welcome speech at the beginning of the program. The president of the organization Harun Bhuiyan gave details of the fair. He said Mansoor Chowdhury, Member Secretary Babu Khan and Joint Member Secretary Mohammad Z Alam Nami were acting as the conveners of the fair. He sought the cooperation of all including the media to make the fair beautiful and successful.
JBBA Joint General Secretary Shahriar Arif, Treasurer Selim Harun, Rumi Bhuiyan, Nizam, Nilu Chowdhury, ZR Chowdhury Litu, Publicity Secretary Subal Debnath and other leaders were present on the occasion.
Organizers said the fair could not be held for the last two years due to Pandamic. So this time the fair will be held on a large scale. There will be hundreds of stalls in the fair. The fee is $250 for general stalls and $300 for food stalls. The budget of the fair is 1 lakh 50 thousand dollars. JBBA will raise funds through this fair.
Meanwhile, the fair will be held on June 26 at the initiative of another part of JBBA. Regarding other JBBA fairs, they said, “We have no relation with any other JBBA.” Our organization is registered as JBBA NYC. We have made it 501 (c). We are doing our job transparently. We hope this year’s fair will be the best and most successful. We don’t know if any other organization (JBBA) did the fair.
According to the organizers, they expect 16,000 people to gather at the fair. Admission to the fair is free. However, the ticket price for the fair raffle draw is 10 dollars. It will have 16 prizes. The first prize is$10,000 dollar in cash. In addition, there will be 15 other prizes. The fair will have a splendid cultural program. Famous artists will perform music there.
