Noman Sabit: Bangladeshi expatriates from 50 states celebrated the holy Eid-ul-Azha on the same day in the United States. Local time on Wednesday (June 28) across the United States, all local Muslim communities participated in the holy Eid-ul-Azha prayers. The Eid congregation was held this year under the management of more than a thousand mosques in the United States. In addition to the open ground, Eid congregations were held in halls of mosques and churches. This news was reported by the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies.

According to the source, the number of mosques and Muslim religious educational institutions in the United States has increased by 31 percent in the past two decades. In 2000, the number of mosques in the United States was 1,209, the number of mosques increased to 2,216 in 2011, and at the latest count of 2020, the total number of mosques in the United States was 2,796. Among them, New York state has 343 mosques, California has 304, Texas has 224, Florida has 157, Illinois has 109 and New Jersey has 141 mosques.

On Wednesday, Eid congregations were held in Bangladeshi-run mosques, mosque-adjacent fields, park grounds and minlaytans of churches in different states. In those areas where there are no mosques, Friday and Eid congregations have been held in the Minlayat of the church for a long time.
Bangladeshi devout Muslims are preparing to hold Eid congregations in more than three hundred mosques or adjacent fields under the management of Bangladeshis across the United States. Jamaat starts from 8 am and continues in mosques until 9:30 am. The local administration is taking special measures for the security of the Eid congregation. New York’s largest Eid congregation was held at the Jamaica Muslim Center. Apart from this, Eid congregations were held in almost all mosques and mosques in other areas of Jamaica, including Jackson Heights, Bronx, Brooklyn, Ozone Park, Astoria, Manhattan and mosques.

Meanwhile, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, South Carolina, Washington and Kentucky are the most populated and Bangladeshi-infested states in the United States. It has been reported that Eid congregations was held in various mosques and Islamic centers and about two hundred open fields.
