Staff Reporter: Monowarul Islam president and Mominul Islam Majumdar have been elected general secretary in the biennial election of New York Bangladesh Press Club. Voting took place after the annual general meeting on Sunday (November 19) at noon local time. Out of a total of 76 voters, 70 cast their votes.

New York Bangladesh Press Club has fierce competition for 9 positions this year. Two candidates were elected unopposed as there was no contest for the two posts. Monowarul Islam was elected for the post of president by getting 40 votes, rival candidate ABM Salauddin Ahmed got 30 votes, Sheikh Sirajul Islam got 52 votes for the post of vice president, rival candidate Rimon Islam got 17 votes, Mominul Islam Majumder got 43 votes for the post of general secretary, rival candidate Farid Alam got 27 votes, Alamgir Hossain Sarkar got 38 votes for the post of joint-general secretary, rival candidate Sheikh Khorshan got 15 votes, another rival candidate SM Solaiman got 13 votes, Rashid Ahmed for the post of treasurer and Mahathir Khan Farooq for the post of office secretary were elected unopposed. , Syed Ilyas Khosru got 54 votes for the post of organizing secretary, rival candidate Amir Parvez got 17 votes, elected executive members are Rowshan Haque (57 votes), SM Zahidur Rahman (55 votes), Abidur Rahim (54 votes) and Mustafizur Rahman (42 votes). Anwar Hossain Manju, Habib Rahman and ABM Saleh Uddin served as Election Commissioner respectively. Chowdhury Mohammad Kajal assisted them.
