Former Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen

Noman Sabit: Former Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen did not come to the United States to see the children who lost their mothers. On May 7, the police recovered the body of Nasim Parveen, former wife of Abdul Momen, after breaking the door of her home in West Roxbury, a town near Boston, Massachusetts. On hearing the news, he contacted the children staying in Boston, but he did not come to see the children who lost their mother. He has a son and a daughter who have lived in Boston since birth.
Rajib Momen, expatriate son of former foreign minister AK Abdul Momen, a long-time resident of Boston, told the correspondent that his father AK Abdul Momen called and inquired about his mother’s death, but did not say anything about coming to the United States. Asked about the cause of his mother’s death, Rajib said he has not yet received the post-mortem report. Rajib mentioned that the police recovered his mother’s body from the bathroom.
An expatriate Awami League leader in Boston said on condition of anonymity that former foreign minister AK Abdul Momen went to the US embassy in Dhaka to come to the US the day after the incident but did not get a visa. In response to the question why he did not get a visa, he said that at one time he was an American citizen. It had to be surrendered during the first election. Red passport also had to be submitted after leaving the ministry. Now he is just an ordinary MP. So he has to get a new visa to come to the United States. But he is not sure why he did not get the visa.
He also said that AK Abdul Momen divorced his wife Nasim Parveen about 25 years ago. After that he did not inquire about his children.
Massachusetts state law provides for a fixed amount of child support to be paid per child. Financial assistance may continue until the child is 18 years of age, in some cases until the 23rd birthday. Although Abdul Momen lived in Boston for a long time, he never knew about the financial support of his children.
Former Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen could not be reached via email and WhatsApp to inquire about visa complications and why he could not come to the US. After sending a small message, he did not reply.
It should be noted that on May 7, the police recovered the body of Nasim Parveen, ex-wife of Abdul Momen, by breaking the door of her house in West Roxbury, a city near Boston, Massachusetts. She was a close friend of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and president of the New England (Boston) Women’s Awami League.
