Staff Reporter: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has extended greetings to all the participants in the 38th Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (Fobana) conference to be held in Washington DC on August 30-31 and September 1.
She said, in her greeting message I’m delighted to convey my heartiest best wishes to all attendees of the 38th Fobana convention, which will be held in Washington, DC from August 31 to September 1, 2024.
Despite the myriad global challenges, Bangladesh, following the philosophy and vision of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheih Mujibur Rahman, continues its journey in democracy. The year of 2024 stands as a testament to our resilience, as we crossed another major milestone by holding peaceful national election. While global events are impacting our national economy and foreign investment, we remain steadfast with our strong circular economy, abundant food production capacity, and a workforce for the next few decades, aiming to transform our country into ‘Smart Bangladesh’, a highly esteemed, developed, and prosperous nation by 2041.
She said, we deeply value the role of non-resident Bangladeshis, particularly those living in North America. Your successful integration into mainstream politics and the positive image you are creating for Bangladesh is truly commendable. The consistent top positions of remittance from the USA and clear indications of your continued contributions to our beloved motherland.Technology is the most significant enabler.
Sheikh Hasina said, with the introduction of AI and other frontier technology, Bangladesh now stands at a pivotal point in making a considerable leapfrog. We can learn from the mistakes. We can create niche markets in these highly advanced technical industries, space economy, generative AI industries, and so on. Bangladesh is ready to welcome talents and resources from the NRB communities across the globe.
The Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (Fobana) as a platform has been upholding the culture and heritage of Bangladesh for the last 38 years, which must be a commendable achievement. I congratulate all members of Fobana.
She said, Fobana has been capturing the history, culture and traditions of Motherland Bangladesh for 38 years in North America. Fobana officials will maintain its continuity in the future. I wish this year’s Fobana a great success.
