Staff Reporter: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon foreigners to highlight the overall development of the country along with its history, culture and traditions through the 38th Federation of Bangladeshi Associations of North America (FOBANA) conference to be held in Virginia, Washington DC area of ​​the United States. She said these things when a delegation of the Executive Committee of the Fobana Conference went to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban last Thursday (February 22). The leaders of the 38th Fobana conference handed over the invitation letter and the Fobana crest to the Prime Minister after offering floral greetings. The current chairperson of the conference, Attorney Mohammad Alamgir, led the delegation of the executive committee of the Fobana conference. After the meeting with the Prime Minister, the chairperson of the conference, Mohammad Alamgir, gave this information over the phone.
Wishing the success of the 38th Fobana Conference to be held in Virginia, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that in the last 37 years, the youth have been encouraged in social, cultural, educational, scientific and charitable activities through the Fobana Conference. Every year Fobana organizes a convention in North America to promote Bangladesh by organizing colorful events, seminars and workshops. In addition to this, the Prime Minister called upon the leaders of the Fobana conference to highlight the history, culture and traditions of the country along with the overall development of the country.
In this discussion of about 45 minutes, the Prime Minister also said that since the formation of the government in 2009, we have achieved significant progress in every field in the last 15 years. We have already transformed the country into ‘Digital Bangladesh’ and fulfilled all the criteria of being a developing country. Bangladesh has now become a developing country. By 2041, it will emerge as ‘Smart Bangladesh’ and become a developed country. The Prime Minister called upon the success of all the development of the country to be presented to the new generation and foreigners through the 38th Fobana conference.
During the discussion, the topic of the division of other or Fobana Conferences in the United States came up. Meanwhile, the leaders of Fobana explained to the Prime Minister that this is the main Fobana conference, explaining the issue of grouping or division.
She said, I believe that through the leadership of the main Fobana conference, Bangladesh will be branded as a country of peace, prosperity, harmony, social justice and opportunity in North America in the days to come.
Current Chairperson of Fobana Mohammad Alamgir, Vice Chairman Masud Rob Chowdhury, former Chairperson and Advisor Duke Khan and Azadul Haque, former Chairperson Rehan Reza, Advisor Golam Farooq Bhuiya were present on the occasion.
This year, the 38th Fobana conference will be held in Greater Washington DC on Labor Day weekend August 30-31 and September 1 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel Auditorium in Arlington, Virginia. This year’s conference is organized by Bangladesh Association of Greater Washington DC. The Fobana conference delegation is now staying in Dhaka to attend a meet and greet event at the ballroom of Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka on Saturday, February 24.
