Noman Sabit: The bi-annual election of Bangladesh Society, the beloved organization of Bangladeshi expatriates in the United States of America, has been held. Local time Sunday (October 27) Salim-Ali won the full panel by a huge margin after the day-long vote counting.
Voting was held in 5 centers in New York, Queens, Ozone Park, Brooklyn, Bronx and Jamaica. Out of total 19 thousand voters, only 9 thousand 3 hundred 24 voters gave their verdict through 58 voting machines in 5 centers. As one candidate was elected unopposed, 36 candidates of Ruhul-Zahid and Salim-Ali panel contested for 18 posts in this election.
In the results obtained, Athaur Rahman Salim was elected as president by getting 5289 votes, nearest rival Ruhul Amin Siddiki got 3820 votes, Mohammad Mohiuddin Dewan got 5494 votes and was elected as senior vice president, nearest rival Faruk Chowdhury got 3405 votes, Mohammad Kamruz Zaman got 5480 votes, nearest rival Aminul Chowdhury got 3409 votes, Mohammad Ali got elected as general secretary by getting 5179 votes, nearest rival Zahid Minto got 3872 votes, Abul Kalam Bhuiya got elected as deputy general secretary by getting 5085 votes, nearest rival Sarwar Khan Babu got 3864 votes, Mafizul Islam Bhuyian Romee was elected as treasurer by getting 5242 votes, nearest rival Noashed Hossain got 3626 votes, Duke Khan got elected as organizational secretary by getting 5230 votes, nearest rival Saddi Minto got 3639 votes,
Anik Raj got elected as cultural secretary by getting 5069 votes, nearest rival Monika Roy Chowdhury got 3727 votes, Rizu Mohammad (unopposed) was elected as Publicity and Public Relations Secretary, Mohammad Jamil Ansari was elected as Social Welfare Secretary with 5207 votes, nearest rival Nadir Ahmed Ayyub with 3588 votes, Akhtar Babul was elected as Literary Editor with 4793 votes, nearest rival Romana Ahmed got 4052 votes, Md. Ashraf Ali Khan Liton was elected as Sports and Entertainment Secretary by getting 5091 votes, nearest rival Alamgir Hossain got 3682 votes, Mohammad Hasan Zilani got elected as School and Education Affairs Secretary by getting 5034 votes, nearest rival Shahnaz Hossain got 3794 votes and elected as Executive Member Mohammad Siddique Patwary was elected respectively by getting 5158 votes, nearest rival Mohammad Rab Mia got 3847 votes, Harun Chairman got elected by getting 5218 votes, nearest rival Mohammad Taju Miah got 3560 votes, Abul Kashem Chowdhury got elected by getting 5150 votes, nearest rival Mohammad N Islam got 3635 votes, Jahangir Suhrawardy was elected by getting 5214 votes, nearest rival AKM Rafiqul Islam Dalim got 3715 votes, Mansur Ahmed got elected by getting 5119 votes, nearest rival Md. Chief Election Commissioner SM Jamal Ahmed Jony, Commissioner Md Hakim Mia, Md Anwar Hossain, Md A Mannan, Md Helal Uddin, Mahbubur Rahman and Altab Chowdhury served as Election Commissioner.
