Bangla Press Desk: Chief Adviser Prof Mohammed Yunus has urged the National Consensus Commission to expedite the reform agenda with an aim to hold the next general election between December and June.
He came up with urgency during a meeting with two members of the National Consensus Commission, held at the State Guest House Jamuan in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Prof Ali Reaz, chairman of the commission and Badiul Alam Majumdar, its member, took part in the meeting, said the press wing of the chief adviser.
The two members, during the meeting, informed progress of their activities to Yunus, also chairman of the commission.
Dialogue over reforms is going on with political parties in phases and the talks with a total of eight parties have been completed as of Saturday, they told the chief adviser.
The consensus commission has undertaken several initiatives to reflect public opinion and raise awareness in support of the reform agenda, they said.
At one point, the chief adviser urged them (Reaz and Majumdar) to accelerate the overall reform agenda, including dialogue with political parties, with a goal of holding the national election between December and June.
