Staff Reporter: The activities of Jamaat-Shibir, the defeated power of 1971, have not stopped yet. They are carrying out their activities in Bangladesh in different guises both anonymously and anonymously. They are waiting for the time. The United States Jasad leaders has said in a statement that its use of militancy could hurt the country’s political and cultural scene at any time. These were the words of the speakers at the memorial meeting of Shaheed Munir, Tapan and Jewel organized by the United States Jasad in Jackson Heights, New York yesterday afternoon.
The speakers said that three student leaders Munir, Tapan and Jewel were brutally killed on September 24, 1986 in Sylhet by the radical Jamaat Shibir. The United States Jasad has observed the day with due dignity by remembering the three martyred student leaders of the then Jasad Chhatra League. The United States Jasad organized a memorial meeting in memory of the three student leaders.
The trial of all the past misdeeds of Jamaat-Shibir is now a matter of time. The current unity of the pro-liberation forces needs to be further strengthened to bring them to justice. The speakers sought the attention of the concerned ministries of the government to revive the murder cases of Munir, Tapan and Jewel. The Jasad leaders demanded that the murders of Munir, Tapan and Jewel be brought under the law by bringing the identified killers out of the loopholes of the law.
Speakers at the Munir, Tapan and Jewel commemoration meeting chaired by Jasad president Dewan Shahed Chowdhury and general secretary Noor Alam Jikur also said that the need for trial of the masterminds, supporters and murderers of the brutal atrocities of that day was not over. The government has to take initiative now to bring the killers to justice. Speaking at the commemoration meeting were Jasad President Dewan Shahed Chowdhury, General Secretary Noor Alam Jiku, Jasad leader Abul Fazal Liton, former president of Sylhet District Chhatra League Jyotirmoy Dutta Nishu, Jasad leaders Mah Mohi Uddin Sabuj, Shahnur Qureshi, Syed Ajmal Hossain and others.
