Bangla Press Desk: The upcoming meeting between Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in London could mark a turning point in politics, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Tuesday.
“Despite his illness, the party’s acting chairman joined the Standing Committee meeting virtually yesterday (Monday). He informed us that he was formally invited to a meeting [with the chief adviser],” Fakhrul said while talking to reporters at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka.
The meeting will be held on 13 June from 9am to 11am (London time), he said. “We hope this meeting will play a positive role in helping the country overcome its current crises.”
Fakhrul said, “Given the political context, this is a major event. This meeting could be a turning point.”
Tarique along with his family has been living in London since 12 September 2008.
Meanwhile, the chief adviser reached London Tuesday morning (local time) on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom aiming to enhance bilateral relations. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
