
Bangla Press Desk: Two Bangladeshi films, “The Magical Men” directed by Biplob Sarkar and “The Silence of the Looms” by Shabnam Ferdousi have been selected for The Asian Project Market (APM).
The film “The Magical Men” is being produced in collaboration with producers from multiple countries. Fran Borgia (Singapore), François D’Artema (France) and Shankhajit Biswas (India) are co-producers of this film along with Biplob Sarkar of Bangladesh.
On the other hand, “The Silence of the Looms”, a story based on the traditions and history of Bangladesh, has been directed by Mirza Shabnam Ferdousi. Rajiv Mahajan is working as the producer of this film.
The Asian Project Market (APM) is considered one of the most important parts of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea. This event is one of the largest film markets in Asia, where emerging filmmakers present their projects in front of international producers, co-producers and distributors. It offers financial support, co-production opportunities and technical assistance.
A total of 455 film projects have been submitted from 44 countries in this year’s Asian Project Market, which the organisers have mentioned as the highest in history. Out of these, 30 films have been selected, the main themes of which are social inequality, family relations, gender and sexuality, war, border realities, etc.
The 2025 Asian Project Market (APM), scheduled to take place from September 20 to 23.
As a surprise, the name of Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is also in this list. Her upcoming film “Difficult Daughters” has been selected as a producer in this year’s market. The film is being directed by Alia’s mother Soni Razdan.
