Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh Premier League giants Bashundhara Kings have secured the signing of midfielder Cuba Mitchell from English club Sunderland AFC’s Under-21 side.
Born in Birmingham to a Bangladeshi mother and Jamaican father, Cuba Raul Mitchell officially obtained his Bangladeshi passport on 2 June. Though still uncapped at the international level, the 19-year-old is widely regarded as a promising prospect for Bangladesh football.
Mitchell’s contract with Sunderland’s U-21 team expired on 1 July. He previously made 25 appearances for the club’s U-18 team, scoring once and assisting once, and featured in 12 matches for the U-21 side.
His arrival comes at a pivotal moment for the Kings, who are preparing for a crucial AFC Challenge League playoff fixture against Syria’s Al-Karamah on 12 August in Doha. A win will secure their place in the main round of the continental tournament. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
