Bangla Press Desk:   Renowned actor Jaya Ahsan, who has won the hearts of audiences in both Bangladesh and India with her powerful screen presence, recently attended a cultural evening in Kolkata.

The event, themed around honouring and encouraging internet influencers, saw Jaya applauding the dedication and creativity of content creators while also reflecting on the growing importance of social media.

Speaking to a Kalkata-based media, the actress also addressed misconceptions about the Bangladeshi film industry, saying, “It is not that films are not being made in the country. Rather, work is being done as before. Otherwise, how can we survive?”

When asked whether the entertainment industry’s future will rely on the number of social media followers, Jaya said, “I don’t think so! My acting does not depend on social media followers. The good or bad of my acting in the eyes of directors does not depend on all these. The standard of an actor’s work cannot be judged by their followers.”

However, she acknowledged the growing trend of production houses favouring actors with a strong social media presence. “Since social media has such a big influence on people’s lives, perhaps this is being considered now. If the heroine of a film is popular online, the film’s business may also benefit,” she noted.

Jaya also drew a line between influencer content and professional acting, explaining: “The acting of an influencer in a few minutes of video is the best. But if she wants to act in a film, she has to go through long preparation. Without this preparation, it is not possible to become an actress.” This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
