Bangla Press Desk:   The internationally renowned heroine Babita has not been seen in any new film since 2015.The popular artiste-starrer last film was “Putro Ekhon Paisawala” directed by Nargis Akhtar. Since then she was absent from any new project. Of course, after that, many filmmakers have approached her and narrated the story of the film. But Babita did not like the story. If Babita ever returns to acting in films, she will act in a film with a completely original story.

While expressing her feelings to the media, Babita said, “To be honest, many filmmakers have told their stories in the last ten years. But none of their stories have really touched my heart. But it is also true that I still have an interest in acting in films. The reason I have an interest is because I’m a film actress by heart. I want to continue acting until the end of my life.”

“If I look at the neighbouring country, stories still move forward and films are made centered around the legendary actors of their country. Veteran artistes become the lifeblood of films because of the story. And the young artistes who act alongside that artiste make the film more beautiful. But in our country, directors still do not have the courage to make such films. We are not able to utilise our experienced artists. So I feel a little regretful at this time that I did not find a good original story at the end of my life so that I could devote myself fully and work hard to act”, Babita added.

Babita is a successful film actor and producer in Bangladesh. She was the best actress in Bangladeshi cinema in the 70s. Babita acted in more than 350 films. She won the Best Actress Award three times in a row after the National Film Awards were introduced in 1975. She also won the Best Actress Award in 1976, 1977, and 1985. She was awarded the National Film Awards for Best Producer in 1996 and Best Supporting Actress in 2002 and 2011. In 2016, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
