Staff Reporter: A Bangladeshi construction worker has died after a wall collapsed during construction work on a building in New York, USA. The incident took place in Brooklyn, New York on Monday afternoon (December 28) local time. The deceased was identified as Jasim Uddin. Another Bangladeshi worker named Ashraful Hasan was seriously injured in the incident. He was admitted to the nearby NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklynl.
According to construction workers at the building, a private construction company, including Jasim and Ashraful was working in the basement of 4th and 5th Avenue in Brooklyn and at Sunsed Park, 42nd Street.Two were crushed when the brick wall collapsed at around 2pm. Jasim Uddin (41) died on the spot. Seriously injured Ashraful was rushed to the hospital. Jasim’s hometown is Vanuai village in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali district in Bangladesh.
Local police are investigating how the wall collapsed and caused the accident. Jasim Uddin came to the United States 10/11 years ago and is living in New York, according to local sources.
