Parbatipur Correspondent: Former freedom fighter commander of Parbatipur upazila Alhaj Adv. Abdul Hye is dead. He was suffering from various diseases for a long time. He died on Monday (December 28) morning while undergoing treatment at Lab Aid Hospital in Dhaka. In 1971 he took part in the war of liberation directly on the battlefield. He was 73 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, 1 son and 1 daughter and numerous friends and relatives. The late Abdul Hai was born in the village of Taj Nagar in the Monmathpur Union of Parbatipur. He lived in the Puratan Bazar Thana Morr area of Parbatipur Municipal Council.
He was buried with state honors next to the Minar Mosque, a family cemetery on the shores of his hometown of Taj Nagar Kalirdanga on Tuesday afternoon. He was a revolutionary patriot who fought for social change. This freedom fighter has struggled against injustice all his life by cultivating the consciousness of communism and Islamic values. Commander Hye has performed Umrah with the financial help of interested people including construction of mosque, madrasa, hebjokhana, orphanage and high school with huge ten-storey minaret in his own land.
He has been the patron and guardian of about 700 freedom fighters of the upazila during his lifetime. His departure has cast a shadow of mourning among the freedom fighters. In private life he is a lawyer and a contractor in the profession of higher education. His wife is a teacher. She is currently working as a professor in a college in Parbatipur. The only son is studying at a university in California, USA. The girl is studying for Honors Masters.
Upazila Chairman Hafizul Islam Pramanik, Upazila UNOr, former MP AZM Rezwanul Haque, District Freedom Fighter Commander, former and current Freedom Fighter Commander of Upazila, former student leader of Chhatra League Degree College VP Shah Alam, OC Mokleshur Rahman and other local leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jasad took part in his janaza prayers on Tuesday.
