Staff Reporter: A new committee of Dhaka University Alumni Forum has been formed in Washington DC, USA. In the new committee, Shatarupa Barua has been elected president and Israt Sultana Mita has been elected general secretary.
Shatarupa Barua is a journalist working for the Voice of America and Israt Sultana Mita is a microbiologist. The organization said in a press release that they have been working with the newly elected board of directors since the first day of the new year.
The other members of the five-member board for a two-year term in 2021-22 are Vice-president Montgomery College Associate Professor Abdul Qayyum Khan, joint secretary banker Iraj Talukder and treasurer Nazmul Haque Rony, a staff scientist at the National Institutes of Health.
Shatarupa Barua said the next two years are important for the forum as an organization. Especially 2021, because the year is the centenary of Dhaka University and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.
