Shilpakala celebrates birth anniv of Nobel laureate

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) celebrated the 157th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore through an elaborated programme titled ‘Purbachale Rabindranath’ at the National Theatre Hall of BSA on Tuesday.

The programme featured discussion, solo and choral rendition, group dance and recitation.

Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, Dr Hayat Mahmud spoke on the various aspects of life and works of Rabindranath Tagore at the discussion event as the main discussant.

In the cultural segment, artistes of Surer Dhara took the stage first with the choral rendition ‘Alo Amar Alo Ogo Aloy Bhubon Bhora’. Then they also rendered ‘Sob Nite Chai’, ‘Antor Momo Bikoshito Koro’.

The artistes of BSA performed group dances with the songs ‘Hridoy Amar Nachere Ajike’, ‘Ami Chini Go Chini’ and ‘Bishwa Bina Robe Mohiche’.

Alongside a duet recitation ‘Dui Pakhi’ with Tamanna Tithi, recitation artiste Bhaskar Bandyopadhyay also recited a poem ‘Nababarsha’.

In the solo rendition, Swati Biswas rendered ‘Shushu Jaua Asha, Sudhu Srote Bhasa’ and ‘Purbachaler Pane Takai’, Nilotpal Sadhya rendered ‘Jhoro Jhoro Borishe Baridhara’, Azizur Rahman Tuhin presented ‘Khanchar Pakhi Chilo Sonar Khanchati-te’, Mahadeb Ghosh rendered ‘Tumi Sondhyar Meghomala’.

Besides, Salma Akbar,  Shieuli Ashish, Adrija, Joly Rahman, Bulbul Islam and Chhaya Karmakar rendered songs at the event.
