Staff Reporter: Demands have been made to oust US President Donald Trump before his term expires. Demands for his ouster have risen sharply since Trump’s attack on the Capitol on Wednesday. His presidency will end on the 20th of this month. Someone is claiming, Vice President Mike Pence to be enterprising. Again, no one has demanded the impeachment of Trump. The news agency AFP reported.
Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer said Thursday that President Donald Trump should be removed from power immediately, accusing him of inciting a takeover of the Capitol by his supporters on Wednesday.
“What happened at the U.S. Capitol yesterday was an insurrection against the United States, incited by the president. This president should not hold office one day longer,” Schumer said in a statement.
“The quickest and most effective way — it can be done today — to remove this president from office would be for the vice president to immediately invoke the 25th amendment. If the vice president and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress should reconvene to impeach the president,” he said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday it is time for Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office.
She said if Trump isn’t removed under the 25th Amendment, Congress may go forward with impeachment.“This is urgent, this is an emergency of the highest magnitude,” Pelosi said.
She said she expects to hear whether Pence will move forward with the process as soon as Thursday. Pelosi did not say what timeline the House would move on an impeachment effort.
“While there’s only 13 days left, any day can be a horror show for America,” Pelosi said.
