Banglapress Desk:The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome has organized a two-day program to celebrate Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day with due dignity and solemnity. On this occasion, the Honorable Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy Md. Shamim Ahsan laid a wreath at the Shaheed Minar at the Embassy on 20 February 2021 at 7:01 pm on Saturday. All the officials and employees of the embassy were present at the time.
After laying wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, the speeches of His Excellency the President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs and Hon’ble Minister of State for Foreign Affairs were read on the occasion of the day. At the end of the recitation, prayers and supplications were offered for the forgiveness of the souls of the language martyrs and for peace and prosperity of the country.
The second day’s program will start tomorrow at 9.30 am by hoisting the national flag at half-mast. Apart from Bangladeshis, Italian guests will also participate in the discussion. In addition, artists from several countries will participate in multi-lingual colorful cultural events.
Due to the Italian government’s restrictions on covid, this year’s Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day are being organized on digital medium zoom.
