Staff Reporter: Protests and rallies have been held in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States in protest of the barbaric attacks by Israeli forces on Gaza. The protest took place in front of Kopli Square and the Israeli embassy in Boston at 2pm local time on Saturday (May 15).
Students from various universities in Boston, including the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee, the Palestine Advocacy Project, the Algerian American Students of New England, the National Palestine Youth Union, the Democratic Socialist of America, the Palestinian Community of Boston and the Palestinian House of Commons.
Expatriate Bangladeshi Munim Khan, co-chairman of the Democratic Socialist of America, a Boston-based workers’ organization, said immigrants from several countries, including expatriate Bangladeshis, protested against the barbaric Israeli attack on Gaza in Palestine on Saturday. He said that he has invited a large number of Bangladeshis to take part in the program.
Sheikh Zarah is an ancient small settlement town on the west coast of East Jerusalem. Recently, the Israeli army tried to build a Jewish settlement by evicting eight Palestinian families living there. In order to stop this illegal occupation, the Palestinians formed a resistance against Sheikh Zarah this week. From that settlement, the Vai movement spread throughout Palestine. Many have called the Palestinian resistance movement a new coup against Israel.
Speakers at the rally strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Palestine, saying it was against humanity. The speakers said that during Iftar and prayers, the Al-Aqsa Mosque entered the premises and was beaten by the Israeli police with batons, tear gas and indiscriminately throwing rubber bullets, injuring more than three hundred Palestinians.
