Staff Reporter : A general meeting of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad has been held in the United States. The meeting was held at a restaurant in Jackson Heights, New York on Monday (June 28) local time.
The national anthem of Bangladesh was played at the beginning of the meeting which was presided over by the heroic freedom fighter Abdul Mukit Chowdhury and conducted by the assistant commander Amanat Ullah. A minute’s silence was observed while paying homage to all the martyrs of the liberation war including the Father of Nation Bangabangu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, National Four Leaders, Commander-in-Chief of the Liberation Army General Ataul Gani Osmani.
At the meeting, prayers were offered for the souls of comrade Shamsul Anwar Mukul, freedom fighter Akhtaruzzaman, freedom fighter Ashraf Hossain Mridha and heroic freedom fighter Manjur Ali (Nantu). The prayer was conducted by the heroic freedom fighter Mohammad Sharif Uddin.
Speakers at the meeting sincerely thanked the People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina and her government for raising the monthly allowance of freedom fighters to Tk 20,000. At the same time, the speakers demanded the constitutional recognition of the freedom fighters.
At the meeting, a new committee was unanimously elected as the Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad United States for 2021-2023. Commander Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Mukit Chowdhury, Deputy Commander Mir Abdul Quader, ASM Masud Bhuiyan, Assistant Commander Amanat Ullah, Abul Kashes Sarkar, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Azizul Islam Azim, Mohammad Misbah, respectively. Mohammad Sharifuddin, SM Rafiqul Islam, Haji Mohammad Hanif, Abu Mohammad Sabbir Rahman, Abdul Awalmia, members are freedom fighters Nurul Amin, Moinuddin Azahar, Abdul Aziz, Syed Moinur Rahman and Shamsul Haque respectively.
Freedom fighters Mohammad Abdur Rahman, Mohammad Nurul Abshar Mia and Monowar Hossain addressed the meeting. In his speech, Abdul Mukit Chowdhury, President of the meeting, called upon all the real freedom fighters stationed in the United States and enlisted in their respective areas to unite and work towards building a golden Bengal in the spirit of liberation war in the spirit of Bangabandhu.
