Staff Reporter: The Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations has celebrated the 91st birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, the wife of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the greatest Bengali nation of all time. Officials and employees of all levels of the Permanent Mission participated in the function held at the Bangabandhu Auditorium of the Permanent Mission on Sunday (August 8).
At the beginning of the celebration of the birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, special prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the departed souls and prosperity of the country and the nation. Then a special documentary on the life and work of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib was shown. The message of the President and the Prime Minister given on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangamata was read in this part of the program.
At the beginning of the discussion, Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, spoke on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great woman Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha Mujib, highlighting various aspects of her life and work and her outstanding contribution to the country and nation building. Mentioning the theme of the day – “Bangamata – Fearless Companion in the Struggle in Crisis”, She said, “Bangamata is a real reflection of the life and deeds of this mother. In the long glorious struggle of the Father of the Nation, Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib was a fearless companion in all crises. She has always supported Bangabandhu in his critical political life and risky work. Therefore, let the life style and values of Bangamata be a role model for all women ”.
The Permanent Representative further said, “When we think of Bangabandhu or talk about him, the words of Bangamata come naturally.” Ambassador Fatima quoted various quotes from the ‘Unfinished Autobiography’ of the Father of the Nation and the commemorative speech given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Her speech came up – how Bangamata has played a role in keeping the party activities going in the absence of Bangabandhu, how the party workers and the party have spent his accumulated money in need; 6 points, how Bangamata gave courage to Bangabandhu to remain steadfast in various political decisions including the time-honored speech of March 7, how she kept her family safe despite enduring indescribable hardships, how she gave up the lure of power and lived a simple and simple life.
Citing the example of the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership, generous-humane heart and simple life, she said, “Such humane generosity and foresight has emanated from the ideals of Bangamata.
Addressing the new generation growing up in exile, she said, “We all need to make a concerted effort so that the new generation of children and adolescents can learn more about Bangamata.” Ambassador Fatima mentioned the awarding of ‘Bangamata Fazilatun Nesa Mujib Padak’ to 5 eminent women on the occasion of Bangamata’s birth anniversary as a commendable initiative.
At the end of the discussion, the mission officials recited poems about Bangamata.
Officers and staff at all levels of the mission participated in the open discussion. The negotiators identified Bangamata as a unique source point for the political success of the Father of the Nation. They said that Bangamata was indeed a comrade-in-arms and a faithful companion of Bangabandhu. The speakers mentioned that the role of Bangamata in the long struggle for independence and her ideal will be a beacon of light for Bengali women from time to time.
