Staff Reporter: For the first time in New York, USA, Foreigners will see the picture of Bangladesh’s architect Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the billboard. An initiative has been taken to display some rare pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of his death anniversary next Sunday (August 15).
On that day, Bangabandhu’s picture will be displayed for 15 seconds every 2 minutes in 24 hours from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm the next day. Its total duration will be 3 hours and will be displayed a total of 720 times. The exhibition is sponsored by NY Dreams Productions of New York.
Fahim Firoz, head of NY Dreams Productions, spoke about the initiative at the Meet the Press event. Fahim Firoz said the initiative to display Bangabandhu’s picture on a billboard in the historic Times Square was completely private and had no political affiliation. He said, “We are moving ahead with the initial initiative and in order to make this initiative a success and to make it better, we are also considering whether some of his words can be broadcast in Bengali / English or speeches in addition to Bangabandhu’s picture.” He sought the overall cooperation of all quarters at government and private levels to make his initiative a success. He said that in addition to Bangabandhu’s pictures, some memorable pictures and captions including the special part of the historic March 7 speech will be predominant in the exhibition. Which has been approved by the Billboard Authority.
