US Muktijoddha Sangsad observed National Mourning Day

Staff Reporter: The Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad in the United States has observed the 46th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family. On Monday (August 30), guests laid wreaths at a portrait of the Father of the Nation at a restaurant in Jackson Heights, New York.

New York Deputy Consul General Nazmul Hasan, UN Mission Press Secretary Nur Elahi Mina, Attorney Moin Chowdhury, Bangladesh Society Treasurer and Community Board Member Mohammad Ali were present as guests at the function presided over by Mukti Abdul Chowdhury, Commander of the organization. Vice-President Mohiuddin Ahmed and Deputy Commander of the organization Bir Muktijuddha Mir Abdul Qadir.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-his family and four national leaders, Bangabir General Osmani, all sector commanders, four sector commanders of Mujib Bahini prayed for the souls of all the members of the Liberation War and after a minute of silence recited the Holy Quran Commander of the organization Abdul Mukit Chowdhury led the prayers.

In their respective speeches, the guests paid homage to all the martyrs and described various incidents, highlighting various public welfare programs of the daughter of the present Bangabandhu Sheikh Hasina and sought the cooperation of all at home and abroad. The people’s leader was demanded to give constitutional recognition to the freedom fighters and to show due respect to the state by publishing the final list of freedom fighters immediately.

All heroic freedom fighters Abul Kashem Sarkar, Shafiqul Islam, Abdul Awal, Syed Moinur Rahman, M Hasan, Amanat Ullah, Misbah Uddin Ahmed, SM Rafiqul Islam, Shamsul Haque, Faruk Hossain, Abu Md. Sabbir Rahman, Nurul Islam among others addressed the meeting. (Sylhet), Md. Nurul Islam, Moin Uddin Azhar, Shahna Begum, Monowar Hossain and Md. Mofidul Islam among others.
