Staff Reporter: The biennial election of the Bangladeshi American Association of Connecticut (BAAC), one of the leading organizations of Bangladeshis in the US state of Connecticut, will be held on Sunday (September 12). Voter turnout is high across the state. Incumbent President Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal is working behind the scenes to divide the expatriates of United Connecticut. This time, even though he is not a candidate himself, there is a lot of controversy surrounding his direct support to a panel and his participation in the election meeting of that panel.
Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal has been the President of the Bangladeshi American Association of Connecticut (BAAC) for the last 3 years, but he is also the Public Relations Secretary of BAAC. In the Corona epidemic he fired the public relations secretary unconstitutionally after he was accused of taking pictures of relief led by the epidemic. But later another person was appointed to the post but he himself is acting as the public relations secretary. BAAC members always receive his message in emails. He is said to have stepped down as president of the New York-based Jalalabad Association of America, breaking the name of Connecticut (BAAC). Not only that, but the issue of illicit relationship with a white American woman was discussed with his wife at the time.
Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal, a greedy and campaign-crazy man, got into controversy when he joined the rival group in the dark of night on May 13, 2017, before submitting his nomination papers for the biennial election of the Bangladeshi American Association (BAAC). He has since been known to Connecticut residents as a traitor and a hated man. His panel became controversial after he cheated with panel candidates.
Before the Corona epidemic began, Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal, the current president of BAAC, called a New York TV reporter to his home and interviewed him, dismissing Manchester expatriates as “poor.” But in East Hartford he himself lived in the basement for a long time. He has not apologized to Manchester expatriates for this incident. Shameless brazen Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal is asking the people of Manchester to vote for Nuru-Humayun Panel in this election.
Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal has been seen in several election campaign meetings, including the first election introductory meeting of their panel in Manchester.
In that year, there was a tussle over the delay in returning the check of the security deposit of the two panel president candidates and the delay in depositing the check in the bank. As a result, if the candidates disagreed with the Election Commission, the May 13 election became uncertain. Moinul Haque Chowdhury played the role of Helal villain in this incident. He was the then Chief Election Commissioner. Golam Chowdhury Iqbal conspired with to delay the withdrawal of his nomination from the bank by the deposited fee strategy. Probably not that much money was deposited in his account.
It is learned that on the last day of submission of nomination papers, two delegations from both the panels went to the house of Assistant Election Commissioner Shafiq Uddin Ahmed and submitted two separate packets. Representatives of both the panels submitted nomination papers in two large packets to Shafiq Uddin Ahmed along with bank checks. The two packets contained a total of 38 nomination papers and bank checks for 17 posts. Assistant Election Commission Shafiq Uddin Ahmed said the nominations and checks of four additional candidates were submitted in a panel packet.
Shafiq Uddin Ahmed said that after submitting the two packets of nomination papers, he sealed them and handed them over to the Chief Election Commissioner the next day. A few days later, the Chief Election Commissioner.
Golam Chowdhury Iqbal instructed him to deposit 38 checks in the bank (Baac’s account number) except one check out of 37checks. He submitted 37 checks accordingly. He declined to name the person in response to a question about the amount of the check stuck in the hands of the chief election commissioner or whose check it was. After asking the same question several times, he was forced to say that the Chief Election Commissioner. The check stuck in Golam Chowdhury Iqbal belongs to Helal-Azam Parishad presidential candidate Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal.
Chief Election Commissioner said. Golam Chowdhury disagreed with Iqbal. As a result, he first asked the chief election commissioner to co-operate in the upcoming elections if he wanted to resign on personal pretexts. As a result, his resignation was not accepted at that time. But he was forced to resign if similar incidents were repeated later.
Shafiq Uddin was tasked to deposit 37 of the 38 checks with the nomination papers in the bank (Baac’s account number) and Golam Chowdhury in response to a question as to why Helal-Azam Parishad presidential candidate Moinul Haque Chowdhury kept Helal’s check with him for a week. Iqbal said that this incident happened by mistake. Inadvertently it fell on my table. A check has been submitted after seeing or knowing the deficiency.
It is because of the greedy traitor Helal that the issue of Baac’s biennial election has finally reached the US courts. Members of both panels attended a courthouse in Hartford at the urging of lawyers from both sides to resolve the election complexities. The Bangladeshi American Association of Connecticut (BAAC) has called for a court hearing to resolve the impending biennial election. Earlier, on the advice of the Hon’ble Judge, Attorney John Cordaras and Attorney Robert F. Latzin of both parties failed to resolve the dispute between the two panel members. At one stage, it was proposed to postpone the upcoming elections and form a temporary committee of five members to manage the speech. Both parties agreed. But there was a problem with the inclusion of Dr. Golam Chowdhury Iqbal, the only member of the current selection committee, in the committee. Although he himself expressed his opinion not to be included in the committee, the Helal-Azam Parishad strongly demanded that he be included in the committee. On the other hand, Kamal-Humayun Parishad opined not to include Dr. Golam Chowdhury Iqbal. They argued that since he was no longer a neutral person, there was no question of his being on the proposed committee. Inside the court, the two lawyers had to struggle for about three hours to reach an agreement between the two parties. Helal and his team did not allow any solution to the complication even after the mediation of the lawyers. Eventually, everyone left the court building unresolved.
