Staff Reporter : The joint general secretary of the New York State Awami League has printed a poster distorting the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who came to New York to attend the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations. The Bangladeshi-dominated Jackson Heights area is littered with posters congratulating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her arrival in New York. Local time Last Saturday (September 18) afternoon, many leaders and activists immediately protested after seeing the distorted name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the poster.
Later, it was corrected and new posters were put up, but the spelling of democracy was also found there.
Durud Mia Ronel, joint general secretary of the New York State Awami League, attached a picture of himself with the prime minister and greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is in New York to attend the 76th general assembly. A few hours after putting up the poster, the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was misspelled. He mentioned Sheikh Hasin instead of Sheikh Hasina. Hundreds of people saw such misspellings on the wall. When the matter was brought to his notice, he immediately corrected it and printed new posters to cover the misspelled posters. Such incidents have provoked strong reactions among the leaders and activists of the New York Awami League. Many have even questioned his talent and educational qualifications.
However, Durud Mia Ronel, joint general secretary of the New York State Awami League, blamed the press for spelling Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s name. He said that after knowing the incident, a new post has been posted.
