Staff Reporter: An argument between a mother and son in Queens spiraled out of control when the man’s brother stepped in to intervene Friday, leaving one brother dead and the other in handcuffs, police and sources said.
A woman and her 24-year-old son got into the fatal disagreement inside their apartment on 74th St. near 45th Ave. in Elmhurst about 2:20 p.m.
The argument turned violent when the woman’s other son, Sean Sarker, 21, stepped between thetwo and attempted to resolve the conflict, prompting his older brother to pull out a knife and stab him in the neck and shoulder, cops and sources said.
Neighbor Asta Bharati watched as medics carried the mortally wounded brother from the apartment on the quiet residential block.
“They carried him out unconscious,” said Bharati, 22. “He was bleeding a lot. They were giving him CPR, but he wasn’t moving or anything when they put him in the ambulance.” “It’s just crazy,” Bharati continued.
Sarker was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, but he could not be saved. A short time later, police took the alleged stabber into custody. His name was not immediately released as charges were pending Friday evening.
It is learned that Abdus Salam Sarkar, a son of Sirajganj district headquarters, came to the United States 45 years ago. But I haven’t got a green card yet. Abdus Salam (67) lives in an apartment at 44-15, 74th Street with his wife and 3 sons born in New York.
Neighbors said Salam’s son Sean Sarkar became addicted to drugs after failing to pass high school. Occasionally, Sean would return home drunk and beat up his mother without using foul language. On Friday, January 8, at 2:20 pm, the eldest son started arguing with his mother over Sean Sarkar’s departure. Seeing that, the Sean government went ahead. Enraged, the elder brother brought a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Sean Sarkar in the neck and neck. Sean was seriously injured. Upon receiving the news, the police arrived with an ambulance and took Sean to the emergency department of the nearby Elmhurst Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. Police have arrested the killer’s elder brother from the spot.
