Staff Reporter: Jackson Heights Bangladeshi Business Association (JBBA) has formed another new committee in New York, USA. When biennial election of the organization was held on January 9 due to extreme irregularities and mismanagement, they formed a counter committee and elected Harun Bhuiyan as the president and Fahad Solaiman as the general secretary.
The biennial election of Jackson Heights Bangladeshi Business Association (JBBA) was held on January 9 at the Bangladesh Plaza Auditorium in Jackson Heights.Giash-Tareq and Tuku-Munir panel contested for 15 posts. The Election Commission declared Giash Ahmed President and Tareq Hasan Khan General Secretary the winners. After announcing the results, Tuku-Munir panel rejected result mention of extreme irregularities and mismanagement in the election. Four days after the mock election, a new 35-member committee was formed at a meeting of businessmen at Jackson Heights’ Nabanya Party Hall, unanimously electing Harun Bhuiyan as president and Fahad Solaiman as general secretary for two years.
Other members of the new committee are: Senior Vice President Mansur Chowdhury, Vice President Babu Khan, Abu Noman Shakil, ZR Chowdhury Litu, Nurul Amin Babu, Joint Secretary Md. Abul Kashem, Mahmud Hossain Badshah, Treasurer Selim Harun, Organizing Secretary Mohammad Alam Nami, Cultural Secretary MR Khandaker Santo, Social Welfare Secretary Anwar Hossain, Office Secretary Masud Rana Tapan, Publication Secretary Shah Chisti, Publicity Secretary Subal Debnath, Women’s Affairs Secretary Nilufar Shirin, Member Kamruzzaman Bachchu, Sajjad Hossain, Masum Bepari, Sanatan Shil, Morshed SM Masud, Mohammad Idris, Abdul Hamid, Sakhawat Biswas, Istaq Rumi, Aftabur Zaman Shimul, Touhidul Islas Rony and Mohammad Humayun Kabir.
The members of the Advisory Council are: Chief Adviser MA Aziz, Farhad Reza, Nazmun Nahar Rahman, Badrul Haque, Samiul Haque, MK Rahman Mahmud, Sohag Azam, Zakir H Chowdhury, Ruhul Amin Sarkar, Attorney Moin Chowdhury and Azizul Chowdhury Masum.
