Chhabed Sathee: The new executive committee of the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) has been announced. Masud Rob Chowdhury (Los Angeles), Chairperson and Abir Alamgir (New York) were re-elected (unopposed) as Executive Secretary to the new committee for a one-year term 2024-25. Members of 64 organizations exercised their franchise through electronic voting online on Tuesday (August 27), three days before the Fobana conference.
Under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Mohammad Mahbub Reza Rahim and Election Commissioner Duke Khan, online electronic voting was completed very smoothly. The election commissioners mentioned that the election process has been completed democratically following the full rules.
Other members of the Executive Committee elected for the year 2024-25 of Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) are M Rahman Zahir (Florida), Joint Executive Secretary-Khaled Rauf (Chicago) and Treasurer-Dr. Priyalal Karmakar (Virginia).
Those selected as Outstanding Members are-Roksana Parveen (Virginia), Abu Rumi (Virginia), Dr. Ahsan Chowdhury Hero (Austin, Texas), Babul Hai (Orlando, Florida), Jasim Uddin (Atlanta, Georgia), Maqbul Ali (Chicago), Nurul Amin Nuru (Virginia) and Rabiul Karim Belal (Pennsylvania).
16 Bangladeshi organizations of the United States have been elected as executive members. The organizations respectively – Mahbub Bhuiya’s Bangladhara (Atlanta, Georgia), Dr. Zainul Abedin’s Bangladesh Association of California (Los Angeles, California), Shamsuddoha Sagar’s Bangladesh Association of North Texas (Dallas, Texas), Farhad Hossain’s Bangla Group Dallas (Dallas, Texas), Shafiqul Islam’s Bangladesh Association of America (Metro Washington DC), Rehan Raza’s Bangladesh Association of Greater Kansas City (Kansas), Mohammad Kajol’s Maryland Friends and Family (Maryland), Asif Iqbal’s Bangladesh Association of Missouri (Missouri), Ajmal Khan’s Bangladesh Association of Houston (Houston, Texas), Mohammad Ali Manik’s Bangladesh Foundation of Georgia ( Atlanta Georgia), Akhtar Hussain’s Friends and Family DMV (Virginia), Nadeem Bhuiya Apu’s Friends and Family Houston (Houston, Texas), Shafiqul Islam Jewel’s Bangladesh Association of Florida Inc (Florida), Kazi Nahid’s US Bangla Association of Georgia (Atlanta, Georgia ), Mohin Uddin Dulal’s Bengali Boys Cultural Association of Georgia (Atlanta. Georgia) and Shamsuddin Mahmud’s Bangladesh American IT People’s Organization (Virginia).
The 39th FOBANA conference in 2025 will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. Bangla Dhara got the responsibility as the host conference. In addition, the 40th FOBANA conference will be held in Los Angeles, California in 2026. Bangladesh Association of California has been given the responsibility as the host conference.
