Staff Reporter: Zakaria Chowdhury, chairman of the executive committee of the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) in the United States, has received a no-confidence motion against him for engaging in unorganized and unethical activities. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the executive committee and the convening committee of the Fobana conference on Wednesday (June 16) with the consent of a majority of members, said Masud Rob Chowdhury, executive secretary of the Fobana executive committee and chairperson of the Media and Public Awareness Committee.
In a press release signed by Masood Rob Chowdhury, he said that a press release signed by Zakaria Chowdhury, Chairman of Fobana Central Committee on June 20, 2021, unofficially spread baseless, untrue, misleading news in the media that he is the Vice Chairman Dr. Ahsan Chowdhury. (Hero) and Executive Secretary Masud Chowdhury.
At the meeting of the Central Committee held on June 16, 2021, all the decisions were taken in a democratic manner with the approval of the majority of the members in accordance with the constitution but the chairman of the Central Committee Zakaria Chowdhury ignored it and tried to give undemocratic verdict on behalf of the host. The proposal is accepted. The executive secretary of the executive committee mentioned that the chairman has been running this misleading campaign with his malicious attitude since the beginning of this no-confidence motion.
He said Fobana Central Committee Chairman Zakaria Chowdhury, Vice Chairman Dr Ahsan Chowdhury (Hero) and Executive Secretary Masud Chowdhury are all in their respective positions. The activities of the Fobana Central Committee continue as usual and will continue in the future. So urge everyone not to be confused by this kind of propaganda. He specifically requested everyone to contact the Fobana Executive Secretary for any questions or information.
Meanwhile, the Fobana Executive committee informed all Bangladeshis in the country and abroad that the 35th conference to be held this year will be held on September 3, 4 and 5 as per the rules to maintain the long tradition. The decision was taken with the consent of a majority of the members of the executive council and the convening committee of the Fobana Conference on Wednesday (June 16). Regardless of this decision, the propaganda that the convening organization / committee will hold the conference on November 26, 27 and 28 instead of September 3, 4 and 5 is misleading and anti-organization activities. The executive council of the Fobana Conference has warned the inviting organization / committee to stop their announcement or propaganda.
