Staff Reporter : Unpleasant incidents have taken place between Awami League and BNP in New York centering on the Prime Minister’s visit to the United States. Local time on Saturday (September 18) at 8:30 pm at the Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, New York State BNP leaders and activists took the initiative to gather with banners. Leaders and activists of the United States Awami League, who had taken a stand on the side of the attack, rushed towards them and started abusing them unnecessarily. After a while, there was a lot of abuse. At one stage there was extreme tension between Awami League and BNP workers. Both teams took a deadly position. Upon hearing the news of the arrival of the police, both the parties voluntarily dispersed.
After a restaurant of Awami League tried to rally in front of a restaurant of Jackson Heights, the police dispersed the rally.
It is learned that about 10/15 New York State BNP workers including BNP leader Gias Ahmed and Maulana Atiqur Rahman organized a rally wherever Hasina was as part of the resistance program. On the other hand, the leaders and activists of the United States Awami League, who took a stand, tried to obstruct their rally. A number of leaders and activists led by Siddiqur Rahman, former president of the United States Awami League, rushed to them to disrupt the BNP rally. Both teams clashed with each other in a confrontational position. There was a mutual abuse between the two. Upon hearing the news of the arrival of the police, both the parties were dispersed.

After leaving the scene, hundreds of Awami League leaders and activists gathered for a long time in front of the newly built Nabanno Restaurant in Jackson Heights as part of a peace rally centered on the Prime Minister’s visit. When the owner of the restaurant got upset and informed the police, the police came and dispersed. He directed the restaurant owner to immediately inform the police if more than 10 people gathered in front of the restaurant. The situation in New York is tense after these two unpleasant incidents.
The Prime Minister will arrive in New York at noon on Sunday (September 19). Leaders and activists of the United States Awami League and its affiliates have undertaken a massive program to give a warm welcome to Sheikh Hasina at the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport on that day.
Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists have also announced a program to display black flags as a counter program.
The Awami League will hold a peace rally outside Sheikh Hasina’s speech at the UN on September 24, while the BNP has announced a protest rally.
