Staff Reporter: The United Nations has demanded accurate information on the disappearances and killings in Bangladesh. If it is not received in Bangladesh by July 15, the annual report will be submitted to the UN Secretary General without Bangladesh’s statement.
In a letter written to the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh on June 27, it was said that if Bangladesh spoke after the specified date, it would not be accepted.
The letter added that the United Nations had complained that relatives of the victims had been intimidated during interrogations.
The letter also mentioned the seizure of the bank account of the human rights organization Odhikar in 2022.
The UN Human Rights Council publishes a report each year on citizens of various countries who have been forcibly or disappeared.
