Deepavali holiday are joining educational institutions in New York

Ema Alice: City Mayor Eric Adams has announced that all educational institutions in New York City will be closed during the Deepavali (also called Diwali) festival from next year (2023). New York is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious community, so the city authorities have decided to close the city’s educational institutions on Deepavali from next year to spread the festival in all religious ceremonies.
After declaring Deepavali holidays in New York schools, Mayor Eric Adams said the decision was made to encourage more enthusiasm among children about the festival. Deepavali means festival of lights. We have always wanted this festival to create interest for the next generation. The light that is in everyone, that light can dispel any darkness.

On the other hand, Consul General of India in New York Randhir Jaiswal said, Indian-Americans had a long-standing demand. This recognition is notable for diversity in New York. All types of people can appreciate Indian culture, traditions. Many Indians live in New York. Indian-Americans living in New York have been long demanding holidays like Diwali. Finally their demand was fulfilled.
