In a video message from London, he expressed this solidarity with the students on Friday morning. He currently stays in London for family reasons.
Kanchan said, “We wholeheartedly embrace the spirit of ’24’ and will never tolerate any fascist regime. I assure you, when I return to the country, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with the students in their fight.”
He also mentioned that the party’s executive chairman, Golam Sarwar Millon, general secretary, Shawkat Mahmood, and other party leaders are actively supporting the students’ movement.
A group of students, led by the NCP, gathered in front of the chief adviser’s residence on Thursday night demanding a ban on the Awami League.
The demonstrations began around 10pm under the leadership of Hasnat Abdullah.
On Friday morning, the party called for a mass rally on the same demand in the capital after the Jumma prayers.
