Gorgeous picnic of Sherpur Zilla Samity at New York

Staff Reporter : A Gorgeous picnic was held in New York, USA for the expatriate of Sherpur residents. Hundreds of expatriate Sherpur residents, their well-wishers and dignitaries from different districts also took part in the picnic organized by the Sherpur District Association in New York on Monday (August 16).

At the beginning, Abul Kashem, the chief adviser of the organization and a journalist from Sherpur, announced the inauguration of the picnic by flying balloons. Convener of the picnic committee Md. Sirajul Islam and Member Secretary Md. Chhamedul Haque Jhantu gave welcome speeches in the brief discussion.

The day-long picnic at Belmond Lakestate Park in New York, which is rich in natural beauty, featured discussions, sports competitions, cultural events and raffle draws.
Housing businessman Kamruzzaman Bachchu, general secretary Zahidul Islam, chief coordinator of the picnic committee Naish Chowdhury, joint convener Md Shahidul Islam Shahin, joint member secretary Md Hisam Hossain and others also spoke at the discussion program chaired by the president of the organization Mamun Rashed.
Sabera Zaman Ruchi, Md. Rafiqul Islam Russell, Mohammad Faruk Mia, Mostafa Saadi, Yasin Ahmed Fahim, Mohammad Jewel Mia and Rekha Zaman Chowdhury were in the overall management.
In his inaugural address, Md. Abul Kashem said, “We have been under house arrest for a long time due to cowardice.Today, the people of Sherpur have come together for this picnic.” He called upon the expatriate people of Sherpur to play an important role in highlighting the history and heritage of Sherpur as well as for the development of Sherpur.

President Mamun Rashed thanked all those present at the banquet and said that besides the welfare of the country, the art-literature-culture of New York can also play a leading role in enriching the people of Sherpur. For this, he called on all the people of Sherpur in New York to unite.
The most interesting part of the picnic was the men’s blindfold, the women’s pillow game and the raffle draw. A total of 17 prizes including laptops, gold chains and TVs were awarded.
The organizers also said that the financial assistance raised from the people of Sherpur for the treatment of covid-infected people in Sherpur would be sent to the Sherpur Deputy Commissioner soon.
